CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Google has unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, its newest premier artificial intelligence system designed for high-level professional applications. The company announced Argon on Sept. 30 as the flagship model in the Gemini 4 series. It is capable of supporting intricate software engineering, financial analysis, legal research, and cybersecurity tasks. Additionally, the model excels at processing extended reasoning sequences and executing complex operations. Currently, access is limited to select users, primarily cybersecurity professionals participating through the Fairwind Program.

With Argon, the maximum output limit has been raised to 1 million tokens, a significant jump from the earlier cap of 64,000 tokens. This enhancement enables the model to handle longer and more detailed projects without the need to split work into multiple sessions. The initial API pricing starts at $2 per million input tokens, while output tokens are priced at $10 per million during the same period. Inputs stored in cache benefit from a 95% discount. Future pricing will shift to $4 for input tokens and $20 for output tokens.
Already, thousands of employees at Google are utilizing Argon for various tasks such as coding, research, and writing projects. Internal teams have tested its capabilities on data center optimization and large-scale software migration initiatives. One notable project involved deploying Argon agents to facilitate C and C++ to Rust migrations. Another project focused on memory profiling across multiple data centers. The optimization efforts resulted in freeing over 300 tebibytes of memory, with additional savings identified through ongoing analysis of the same systems.
Enhanced Capacity for Extensive Technical Tasks
Google announced that Argon achieved a 77.9% score on DeepSWE v1.1, a benchmark for extended software engineering tasks. The company also shared performance results across finance, legal work, automation, and multimodal activities. Developed by Google DeepMind as part of the broader Gemini family, Argon integrates advanced coding tools with long-context reasoning and multimodal processing. Its expanded output capacity is tailored to support workflows that involve many interconnected steps before completion, making it suitable for complex, multi-stage projects.
Cybersecurity remains a key focus during the initial deployment phase. Argon can detect, verify, and patch software vulnerabilities within approved defensive environments. Wiz is currently leveraging the model through its Scan for Good initiative, which aims to identify security flaws in public infrastructure. Google reported a 68% score on CWE-bench v1, a benchmark dedicated to vulnerability remediation. Selected cybersecurity teams also have the option to use Argon outside the usual cyber guardrails when working on authorized defensive security tasks.
Limited Public Access During Gradual Deployment
Google has not yet announced a definitive date for widespread public availability of Gemini 4 Argon. The company is implementing a phased release strategy, collecting feedback from early users, and participating in a voluntary U.S. government process that grants pre-release access to advanced AI models. Once fully available, the model will be accessible to developers, enterprise clients, and individual consumers. Priority access will likely go to paid API subscribers and Google AI Ultra members, although an exact launch date remains unconfirmed.
Additionally, the company clarified that it does not plan to release Gemini 3.5 Pro, which had been anticipated prior to the launch of Gemini 4. Instead, Argon now represents the flagship offering for intensive reasoning and professional use cases. Other Gemini models are still accessible, catering to users with different performance requirements and budget considerations. For now, Gemini 4 Argon is primarily available to trusted testers, cybersecurity collaborators, and early-access programs, with broader release still in progress.
